Blocked pipes can be particularly nasty, as they stop waste water from leaving your home.

If you find it difficult to flush your toilet or notice that water drains away very slowly, this could be a sign of a blockage.

When waste water can’t flow away it can come back up from the toilet, sink, or drains outside your house and flood your home or garden.

How can you tell where the problem is and who to call?

If some of your toilets and sinks are showing signs of a blockage but not all of them, or you are able to check any inspection chambers on your property and they are free flowing, the blockage is probably in your own pipe work. That’s either inside your house or in the drain in your garden. You’ll need to call a plumber to fix this for you, but before you do, it might be worth checking your insurance policy as you might have cover.

If the problem is outside your property boundary or if more than one property is experiencing problem and/or there’s widespread sewer flooding in the area, the blockage could be in the public sewer or on the shared drains. In that case, it’s a job for us.
